Much like how Mrs. Mia Wallace loved to return from the bathroom to see that her food had arrived, I am happy to return home from a trip to see that records I had ordered had arrived while I was gone and were waiting for me to play them when I got back.
As my kid gets out of 8th grade today, I think back to when I was that age and went to my first Depeche Mode concert. World Violator Tour. DM was the first piece of music I ever bought myself. That music helped me survive those times. RIP Andy Fletcher and thank you so much for the music you provided this world.
As a Texan, today is an extremely sad and all too common occurrence in my home state. We're a state founded on violence. We solved our problems and took this land through violence. Our violent culture and past is partially to blame. And then you add something easily obtainable that can inflict the most amount of violence legally possible. And sadly we will learn nothing from today and do nothing to prevent it again
Signed up for 3 months of VMP just to get Low End Theory. USPS says it was delivered last night when it clearly wasn't. Either it's at someone else's house and they decided to keep it or it's still on a truck getting warped in the Texas heat. I think the universe is trying to tell me something. Oh yeah, new Arcade Fire is suffering the same fate. Thanks Postal Service!
You know you're getting old when you're almost as excited for your new battery powered lawn mower to arrive as you are for the records you had on preorder to arrive.
Trying to debate going to see Interpol tonight. On the one hand, I've never seen them live. On the other, it's a school night and I'm already tired. Why did they have to do a Monday night show?
Took the oldest child to Mitski last night. Got a hug at the end and a thank you for taking them. So I'm not the worst thing in the world currently but the day is young. Mitski is a great performer. The line to get in was an hour long and it was cold.
Bought a single for War On Drugs this Friday. Have to rectify the past mistake I made when I chose a different show that was in town the same night as them the last time they came through Dallas.
As the parent of a teen, it's the small victories you have to enjoy. Like getting the Mitski tickets your older child wanted that sold out pretty quickly. I'm sure she'll think I'm the worst tomorrow but at least for today I'm okay in her eyes.
