R.I.P. VMP Forum

for the shitshow they are , reddit ended up being pretty friendly to them and they found enough people that will defend them all the time.
i havent checked for a while though.
Like many other subreddits, it's full of people who either LOVE VMP and think they can do no wrong, or people who absolutely despise them. It was good for finding out about new releases but outside of that, it's not that great.

Moderators have definitely laid down ground rules that eliminate most of the negative chatter, so it's a pretty VMP-friendly environment overall.
There was a ton of Storf slander (with 100+ upvotes) in the post about his announcement that Amileah was taking over, so he's not viewed too highly I'd say.

Also it is legitimately funny that Storf can’t even announce someone else’s promotion without tooting his own horn.
I love the "don't cross the line in here" post, stickied above the top voted post calling Storf a ****. Like...I'm really confused about where the line is???

Think it was just a joke because they axed the old forum because it didn't align with their aesthetic and that a "new and improved forum experience" was on the way. That was nearly 2 years ago now.
I haven't been following the VMP saga for quite a while now. Seemed highly unlikely, but you never know what dumb shit those people may do. I still remember the end of the VMP forum like it was yesterday.

2 years ago people who truly cared about their little community came together to form this space. Their actions took place in a moment where their internet home, their virtual living room, was taken away from them. It was formed when a company that proclaimed to be about community destroyed it's own under the guise of "improvement." They lied to their most loyal customers to more easily promote their product; so that they could continue to sell a thing that never existed. As much as some of us would have liked that corporate entity and the individuals who told us they cared to have done better, to have been better, and to have positive intentions. They did not.

But that's the beauty of today. Something better exists, not because of that company but because of the people that company was so desperate to rid themselves of. Well done N&G. Regardless of how long this forum lives, regardless of how many times we fall out with each other, we take breaks something great was done, and everybody who has posted here and supported that thing should be proud of it. That's what a community is. A place where people can be open about their perspectives, where discourse isn't always comfortable but people share some common threads that continue to bring them together in support of the space they share.

Congrats to those people that care about this space. Thank you mods and admins for volunteering your time and energy. Thank you to the people here that do a little something nice for their fellow humans.

I don't know why I just got a notification for a thread with that awful company's name in it. I thought I had blocked all of it. Ffs, people here still support them? With all the other places out there that do such a better job? Yuck. I side eye each person that still supports that extremely gross and lying company.

But I'm glad I read your post, jc. Lovely words.

(Now let me go back to my Voldemort free existence. It's such a happy place)
