Have been hearing a lot of positive things about this label lately, especially from audiophile members over in the UK and Europe; am curious to learn more about it. What are some recommended pressings?

Does anyone have the BB King Singin' the Blues and the Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus pressings by Pure Pleasure? How do they sound?

I actually JUST got the BB king Singing the Blues from Acoustic Sounds last sale. Havent gotten the chance to spin it yet but have heard good things.

I'm also no audiophile so don't take my opinion on sound to mean anything either way but I have always heard PP spoken about very positively.

All of these are FANTASTIC.

I have almost 50 PP records and they all sound great. I collect all their Strata-East, Tribe and Nimbus West reissues. Most of these are really hard to find in good shape and/or at a good price and even more here in Europe. These reissues are imo the best option to listen to these amazing recordings. I have another 10ish Speakers Corner records and I put them at the same level of quality.

BTW I bought most of these blues album in blind just because they were PP reissues and they give me chills when I spin them. They did an amazing work on blues recordings and, as an European and not a blues "specialist" at all, it was the best introduction for most of these names I never heard about before.

Just got these titles through in the sale, not had a chance to listen to them properly but the Stan Levey sounds good

I have 10 Pure Pleasure Records records 😁
They are mostly really great and awesome sounding. The only one I'm really disappointed is B.B. King's Singin The Blues. I've listened to that one on 3 different systems, and it just doesn't sound good to me. A digital remaster I found on Tidal sounds way better...

I have to revise my previous statement a bit...
I just listened to Singin' The Blues again, and it does not sound that bad, it is actually a really enjoyable listen. Only listened to that record once after I got it, did a quick compare to a digital version, and then I decided to put it on Discogs Marketplace. Only the first song is a bit weak to my ears (Please Love Me). Thankfully it did not sell yet, I just realized that needs to go back into my collection.

Just heard about this release/reissue, and based on the feedback here, I'll assume this would be a safe bet?

I’d think so! I just got PP reissues of Esther Phillips’ From a Whisper To A Scream and Ann Peebles’ I Can’t Stand The Rain in the AP sale and they both sound awesome. I’m jealous of all the folks in Europe/UK who took advantage of the PP sale. I would have snagged some but overseas shipping didn’t make the deals too great anymore!

Very safe.

I have about 10-15 Pure Pleasure titles and all are very good pressings. Hard to go wrong with them, they do things right.

My fave PP titles in my collection are Glass Bead Games and Music Inc.

I ordered the BB King Singin' the Blues on Amazon. Excited to hear what this one sounds like cut from the analog tapes. All i've heard is the shitty Waxtime gray market version before on vinyl. That Freddie Hubbard album is an amazing record, I might have to grab that one next.
