Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 15 - September 2020 /// 15-60-75 (The Numbers Band) 'Jimmy Bell's Still In Town' - Win A Prize Box!

EDIT: Just realized @dhodo guessed this one already. matches up well...

Ok, I think this might be it

15-60-75 (The Numbers Band)

Fits the 1-4-5 clue with the ratio
from Kent, Ohio
Saxophonist is Chrissy Hynde's brother
hyphenated man clue fits hyphens in name

Album is Jimmy Bell's still in town

"It was recorded onstage at the Agora in 55 minutes in front of Bob Marley’s audiences"
released in 1976
reissue liner notes by David Fricke (Rolling Stone) and David Giffels (Co-Author of "Are We Not Men?")

Whoa, this album rips. How have I never heard of these guys before?!?! It really does seem like this is the right guess and I'm 0% surprised that @Yer Ol' Uncle D picked a complete rocker of a live album that I'm hearing for the first time today.

I am CERTAIN that we got it!

"The band's music theory specialist, Terry Hynde, also discovered that 15 divided 15 is 1, 60 divided by 15 is 4, and 75 divided by 15 is 5. In a musician's world, "1, 4, 5," is referred to as the "universal progression"

If you mix up the numbers, you get 154 which is a fabulous Wire album!

...that's all I have.

Please accept this as my official guess.

Surprise - the N&G AoTM for September is.....

15-60-75 (The Numbers Band) - Jimmy Bell's Still In Town

I think this is a record most will be unfamiliar with but I feel y'all will dig immensely. My version of N&G Classics.

Congrats to @dhodo for being the first to go down their narrow road (see what I did there). You earn a bonus entry in the end of month drawing.

My write up will be forthcoming in the next day or two, mainly because I've been talking to Robert Kidney during this process and he has something he'd like to share. I'm gonna wait til I have that to update the first post. In the meantime, here's a quote from Robert about that night -

IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT
Below is a link to the 15-60-75 store where you can purchase this 2LP set directly from the band for a measly $25. Better yet, domestic US shipping is only $3 and a paltry $10 for international.

As I said in the intro, I'm passionate about supporting the artist directly when possible and this month everyone has an opportunity to do that. With pricing like this, I kinda feel like the band is supporting us.

Placing an order here also gets you an additional entry in the prize drawing so copy me on your order so I can track that.

You'll likely get a communication from Janet at some point after placing an order. This is Robert's wife who handles orders and shipping. She's a great lady and will take good care of you. Please shop early and often.

Everyone can order here -

Successive clues -

This is awesome, and I love how you approached the clues. I'm scared that when it eventually gets to my turn my first clue will be like "Uhhh... a street that isn't all that winding" with the first reply guessing correctly
Abbey Road.

Don't sweat it. It'll be fine.

The way I approached it - the point wasn't to make it impossible for anyone to guess the record. I didn't consider it a 'me against all of you' contest. The whole point of this thread, as I interpret it, is to promote a record by gradually building interest, not sending everyone off on a wild goose chase.

I started with clues that were more obscure and gradually made them easier to make connections. Along the way, hopefully, I exposed everyone to other good music in addition to the band I was actually promoting. For instance, that Golden Palominos record I referenced is killer. Maybe someone will jump on that as well as 15-60-75.

Ultimately, the gist is to have fun while turning other folks on to some good music. However that plays out for each individual is the right way.
