I don’t expect this to be a popular thread :D. But I can’t help but wonder why James Taylor’s name/music never seems to come up when folks discuss great singer-songwriters from the late 60’s-early 70’s era. I can’t say I care much for the direction Taylor’s career took beyond his earliest stuff, but back in the early 70’s, I was listening to his Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon right beside Neil Young’s Everybody Knows this is Nowhere and After the Gold Rush, Untitled by The Byrds, The Who’s Tommy, (etc., you get the idea) and to my teenage ears, he was right there with his early work. In fact, I’d love to see this album receive some kind of audiophile treatment, like a MoFi 45 RPM. And that takes me back to my question of why his early stuff doesn’t seem to get much respect.

Bought the bx set on a recommendation last year and those early albums are great.
