If the objective answer to the Question, "What was 1986's Album of the Year?", is not Cinderella's Night Songs, then the answer is either Metallica's Master of Puppets or The Beastie Boys' Licence to Ill.
 
I'm actually really surprised there wasn't more love for Graceland this year. Thought this would be as close to a unanimous #1 as any year.

It’s a really impressively strong year. I really enjoy that album, loads of great tracks but I don’t love it and I love the 4 I put above it. That said any of the albums in my top 5 (including it) could easily have been number 1 in any other year.
 
😀 They’re probably in my favourite 3 or 4 bands!

But maybe it’s so great because in the 80s under thatcher the north of England really was a cold dead place haha!
They are a great band, but cold and dead are two adjectives that fit their sound pretty spot on imo.

Same. It's a top 5 album of the decade to me.
