The Creative Writing and Short Stories Thread

Often I have some excerpt of original literary work floating around in my head and I never really get it out. I also often enjoy other people's similar output and expression. I'll start with something that has been bouncing around for the last bit in the next post. Hopefully I get to see other...

What changed with inline twitter posts?

This used to work great but as of today I'm seeing a message indicatiung it is blocked. I run a script blocker and I see a github url is now a required script. I enabled it and it still blocks. Nothing else should be in the way. I assume some sort of XSS. I can still click through just fine.

Special Request: Hunting Digital Recording - Bob Dylan at Bonnaroo

I attended this Bonnaroo and saw Dylan and later my dad, who is one of the biggest Dylan fans ever, wondered aloud if it was recorded. Turns out it was: http://mail.etree.org/pipermail/bittorrent/2008-May/025810.html I have numerous soundboards from this year and the previous but have never...

    Stylus jumping between tracks

Not just the stylus, the whole headshell assembly. It's particularly bad in the lead in to the 1st track but is quite visible and audible on any run outs between tracks. Once it gets into the music grooves it settles down and seems fine. I think it is jumping forward but i cannot be 100% sure...

    The peepee albums by debianlinux

I have a commute that, depending on traffic conditions, ranges from 35 minutes to sometimes 90 minutes. Also, I frequently go from work to the gym and use the car ride as an opportunity to both listen to full albums and hydrate. Inevitably there are times I am caught frenetically dancing in my...

    Locked Groove Runouts

Seems more and more of the new records I get have a locked groove at the end of the runout instead of going under the label. I have an automatic return on my table and I actually prefer the arm get to the point the table picks it up rather than spinning indefinitely on the final circuit. I...

    The intiative for new members

I had this idea to make up one of those deals like you see on cork boards in public spaces with the tear off phone numbers where there's a quick blurb saying there's a site for vinyl enthusiasts and post it up in local record stores. I am pretty shoddy at design so I thought crowd-sourcing the...

Profile Posts: The Still Missing Howto

I just stumbled upon profile posts and even the follow feature yesterday. I responded to several profile posts and followed several people. I had expected to get some sort of alerts surrounding these things. I have not. Notification settings don’t seem inclusive of these things. Like, what...

I’ve Got Good News and I’ve Got Bad News...

The good news: Back when VMP High Fives released I sweet talked my wife into using her Facebook to enter all the drawings (no social media for me). Today she got notified that one of her entries won. The bad news: She won the Amen Dunes selection; none of which do I remotely like. I am curious...

    Boston, MA

Hey, so, I'm not actually in Boston but I will be for 3 days in June. I know about Newbury comics but where else should I be looking for cool record stores or underground/scene live music? My trip is work related but I'll be making the most of the evenings. I'm staying at the airport so I'll get...
