@tvham I sort of refuse to go to the Austin 360 venue, just because it is too damn far away for me. Not sure if I am going to go to the Friday or Saturday show in Austin. He was great at Bass Concert Hall two years ago.

@Twentytwo I saw him at Red Rocks two years ago - it was such an amazing show!

@tvham My brother in law lives In Centennial, so I got a place to stay, that's half the battle right there. I've always wanted to see either Isbell or The National there.

I feel like Renée Zellweger's Texas drawl has gotten stronger as award season has rolled along.

Yeah, my Texas accent is not real strong at all. People from other parts of the country would probably pick up bits of it here and there, but, growing up in Houston and then living in Austin all these years, any edges that I picked up around my relatives in small town Texas have long been buffed out.
Seeing Jamie Lin Wilson tonight at The Cactus Cafe. It was part of my gift to my sister for her birthday. Don't tell her, but, I basically used her birthday as a way to justify going to a show despite the uncertainty of my job situation.
Watching this Facebook live stream of Shakey Graves' show from the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO. Esme Patterson just joined him for 'Dearly Departed' and a nice cover of 'Real Love'. She always seems so happy when she sings.

They did the two other songs that she sang on from "And The War Came". Their voices play well together. I haven't really checked out any of her other work, but anytime I see a clip of her singing these songs with Shakey Graves she always seems to be enjoying herself so much. Nice to see.
Been binging pretty hard on The Kinks' "Lola" album for the last few weeks. Certainly not the first time I've ever listened to it, so I'm not sure why it is hitting the spot right now.
Bought a ticket to the Wolf Parade/Land of Talk show tonight at the Mohawk last year before I found out I would be losing my job. Really torn on whether or not I'm going to actually go.
The audience participation and reaction shots for this Billie Eilish episode of Austin City Limits are something else.

Never let it be said that it can never happen here. Amazing that these GOP Senators put their desire for re-election that far above the will of the people and the good of the country in general. You would think that there were no other jobs out there for these people. I get it, they make tons of money & clearly don't have to do anything for it. Still...we're all about to pay a very hefty price for their decision.
Totally forgot that I ordered that I Feel For You (Acoustic Demo) 7" from the Prince store. Man, a lot has happened since then.
Call it cosmic timing, or just plain smart forethought and planning, but the Billie Eilish episode of Austin City Limits is set to air this coming Saturday. Check your local PBS station schedule for airtimes.
Black Pumas have sold out 3 nights in May at Stubb's in Austin, and they have added a 4th night. I've lived in this town for about 28 years now, and I can't recall a band that has caught fire this fast during my time here. Crazy.

@Aron Oh dang, didn't know that... I know the guitar player has a grammy already, which makes me, again, a lil suspicious about their immediate success... they seem to be a little to manufactured.
Love the band regardless, killer tunes

Adrian, the guitarist, has been around for years, and was in Grupo Fantasma. They are a talented group...Prince was a fan, and I think they collaborated together at one point. That probably helped expose that band to a broader audience. Looks like they formed in 2017, so it may have been more like 2 years or so ago that Eric was still busking. Just put out the album last year though, so, still a very rapid rise.

I saw them play for free at a record store in Dallas a few weeks ago and Eric went around and shook every single person's hand and chatted with them for a few minutes each. He even sat with little kids and talked to them for a bit and it was so awesome to see. He just seems like a really nice dude and stuff like that goes a long way to building a loyal fan base.
Mitski's episode of Austin City Limits premieres this Saturday. It is a split episode. Check your local PBS station listings for airtimes.
If I join the Space Force, and I'm killed in...combat (?), then, wouldn't there be a chance that I could become a Space Force Ghost? Risk might be worth the reward.
