  • Friend came over to listen to records last night. Drank 20 pints between the two of us, one record had bad pops, I can't remember which one. I'm going to have to listen to 318 records today to find it. It's... it's the only option...

This is an eery coincidence as my mate came to stay over for the weekend. We went on an all day pub crawl and finished up listening to a stack of records and playing drunken card games until the early hours!

I'm 3 records in and haven't found the pop yet. Only 315 left! And no I definitely will not be having a pint. Like, ever again...

Friend is coming over to listen to records tomorrow. I have an itch to buy audiophile fancy vinyl. What do I buy? He doesn't like Jazz, but otherwise he's a good dude.

For the record, I looked for KC but didn't find a good pressing of it, they didn't have Brothers In Arms Mofi. So I went decidedly un-audiophile and went with the Rhino MC5 Total Assault box set.

But that Al Green classics will make an appearance.

For MC5 you want a well used one. Preferably with beer and Jack Daniels spilt on it

Yeah it's pretty nice that I don't have to worry about what it sounds like. Pops? Fuzz? I CARE NOT PASS THE BOURBON.
So, this Joel Ross is a pretty noisy ass pressing. The first track is half vibraphone half background fuzz... not exactly a "silent" press.

Yeah I wish I could say I thought it was a individual bad press. But my hours is this is just how it sounds. Which is garbage.
One of those nights... I want to punch a watermelon.

Where can I get a watermelon at 1:57 am?

Someone must deliver, late night watermelons....
Trying to verify that you are in fact you, to a financial company while trying to access stock options for a company you used to work for but that got sold and who didn't give the financial company any info on you so they have nothing to actually verify that you are you is the most fun thing since rabid weasel underpants.
Okay uh, how did I completely miss Stereolab until now? Space Age French Bachelor Pad music is so my THING.

They're pretty great. I can’t wait to see them live this upcoming October. If ya combine them with some Air and some Money Mark and you have the soundtrack for an amazing cocktail party. The kind where you where a turtleneck under a blazer and drink dry martinis.

    Check out the following:

    Emperor Tomato Ketchup
    Dots and Loops
    Mars Audatic Quintet
    Switched On, Vol. 2

Also it’s a good time to get into Stereolab as they are in the middle of a great reissue campaign.
Has anyone actually spun their TTL Khruangbin yet? Sound any better than the previous pressings?
    Thinking of getting more tattoos.
    Midlife crisis... ENGAGE.
Dear sweet lord, this Deluxe Anima pressing is a work of art. Holy hell, this has vaulted up into the top ten best sounding albums I possess. Wowsers.
Turn light switch off, flames shoot out of wall, power to half the house off. TIME FOR WINE.
If any of y'all get a warped copy of The Comet Is Coming and managed to get a replacement, I'll buy the warped one off ya for a few bucks or something. Lemme know.
Crap, did anyone get a second copy of that Turntable Lab Khruangbin? Want to sell it to me? Their damn email reminder didn't go out LIKE I SIGNED UP FOR IT TO DO... Or trade something pretty of mine for it?
Oh baby Wu Tang 36 Chambers LTD. Clear Vinyl MOV and Madvilliany 10th Anniversary LTD. Press have shipped... C'mon Discogs seller and postal service PLEASE DON'T LET ME DOWN HERE...

I will pray to the vinyl God's for their protection.

    This generally doesn't work.
Finally watched Avengers Endgame, and discovered that the most important character in the Marvel Universe is a rat who walks across a keyboard. I call him Ratto The Magnificent, and I'm working on a series of graphic novels in which he walks across a variety of things in the name of justice; evil doers food when they aren't looking, dictators faces as they sleep, the Constitution....
I have two thoughts about this Deluxe Anima boxset:

    1. HAHAHA those discs will never fit in those booklet pockets.

    B. It cost $90 and has PAPER F*CKING SLEEVES ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!?

    7. The book is really nice though.

Just thank your lucky stars that they didn’t do to these expensive versions what they did to the equally expensive A Moon Shaped Pool fancy vinyl version...

The amount of totally scratched discs I've had recently due to crap paper sleeves... the sight of them fills me immediate unquenchable rage.
GUYS. Super important question. If you put doors on a Kallax, can you still fit records in it?
Okay, so this new Craft AAA reissue of The Country Blues of John Lee Hooker is pretty remarkable for the price. Like, this is closing in on AP quality audio for like... $22. Gray remaster, the stereo imaging is... a little odd but holy hell does it sound crisp and dead quiet.

Oh well then this will be a treat. He's in the room with you. Although the stereo imaging makes it sound like there's 3 of him in the room with you. One singing and moving around from left to right in the front and another two other JLHs playing guitar to the left and right of you. Not sure why they did it this way but it's different for sure.

    That's really odd.

I'm wondering whether it was recorded with multiple mics to allow him to move around, and that's why the vocals shift around in front and why the guitar is more of a stereo image instead of what I would consider the normal centre focused mono image. It by no means makes it worse it's just... different. I'd really like to know why it sounds like it does but my main guess is multiple floor mics.
THAT'S IT, NO MORE RECORDS. NOOOO MORE, NOPE.

-buys another two records ten seconds ago-

    FACK STOP IT!
Me: Oh my God I have no more space for anything. This is the end of my record collecting.

Also Me: -buys 4 records on lunch break-
