Selling albums I don’t listen to for fun Lego sets is the way to go! I recently got the Classic NES (71374) set and it’s just too cool. Hoping to be getting the Roller Coaster (10261) this holiday season.
@Tys1 that NES set is so cool! I dig the display pieces a ton. I am disappointed in the Super Mario 64 set they have coming out though, as I want regular Mario minifigures and minifigure scale sets! Waiting on IKEA to restock a display case before I fully take the plunge into buying sets! Honestly, the Diagon Alley set looks so amazing, even at $400.
My brother was into lego's when we were kids, but I never got into it. I think it would be just another expensive hobby that my wife would roll her eyes at.
@highqualityrecords yeah, they dropped the ball on every Nintendo set outside of the NES. We bought our boys (we all know who it was really for) a bunch of the interactive Mario sets for Christmas and they’re just not that fun. Plus I feel super cheated when I don’t get an instruction book.
The Harry Potter sets are all pretty cool though, had fun putting a few of those together and working on getting Fawkes (76394) together now. The Diagon Alley set looks so great!
I need more space! I was super into Lego as a kid, but I never took the sets apart and just sat them in my room or my parents basement. Do people leave their sets up? I would think taking them down/apart would be a pain
I was obsessed with Lego as a kid (mainly Lego Star Wars) and have purchased a couple sets this year that I would've died for as a kid. The level of detail now as opposed to the 00's is insane. Only thing thats a bummer is the price. Of course theres inflation involved but the $ per piece count just seems much steeper nowadays.
I guess tbf when I was a kid I was playing with the Bionicle sets or Harry Potter ones that are playable etc that you'd probably not keep. As an adult I'd probably only go after the bigger 1000+ piece sets which would be different
[Sheepishly raises hand] Uhh...I have a Lego room in the basement and my kids call me Lord Business. My wife buys me a big Lego set (Death Star, Ferris Wheel, Creator Expert buildings, etc.) for Christmas every year. I've got a tonne of Star Wars sets, and the kids have almost all the Harry Potter sets. We have a Lego Christmas village we build every year that takes up the dining room. It's rad.
Oh man, I’ve only bought one and it was the Millenium Falcon, which is currently in pieces. But I love Legos! Wish I could get some but I really don’t have any place to store them… let me rephrase that, my wife doesn’t have any place where she would like to see them in the open…. So I stick with vinyl and sneakers
Inspired by @highqualityrecords and their profile post. Just a friendly place to talk about what sets you’re working on. Any DIY builds. Any dream sets. Lego Movies. Lego Games. Lego TV shows. Anything Lego!
Speaking of Seinfeld, I was recently doing a group puzzle/pattern finder and it had the first names of the first 8 presidents. I knew Van Buren cause of Seinfeld!
