  • My weekend USPS guy is the worst. 9/10 if I have something out for delivery on a Saturday it will never get delivered, then update Sunday to “Awaiting Delivery Scan” only to sometimes go out for Delivery again on Monday. Today though, it went from “Out for Delivery” to “Arrived at Post Office”. What is going on lol

currently going through the exact same thing lol. Young guy on the weekend not delivering packages. thinking of calling the post office.

My regular postal person is outstanding, but sometimes she's away and whomever is covering just puts failed delivery notices in my mailbox without even buzzing to try and deliver the packages. Not the end of the world, but I hate having to wait until the next afternoon to pick up at the post office when I'd been at home the whole time.

Chances are it's a part timer on weekends. At least your stuff isn't ending up at his house, the local shops, or in the ocean. But I would still make a complaint to your local office post master about it. We love our regular guy and leave him candy.
After over a year of tinkering with my Fluance RT85 trying to find the sound I’ve been looking for and variable test issues I’ve had with it I’ve decided its time to sell it off, put that money towards a Bluesound Node while I divert my monthly vinyl spend towards getting an endgame deck (Technics, Rega or Ultradeck). Not looking forward to 6-12 months of no vinyl but it’s time

Kind of thought that might be the way you would go. Can you squeeze in a VPI Classic ? You can hear one at Upscale. I don't think you would ever own another table. If not the Mofi and Technic are very good options. I also think you would love a Grado on either table for those female vocals alone.

I'll take a look at them, not very familiar with VPIs @JohnnyCashFan . Think my goal with an endgame is to get something that will require as little tinkering as possible while still promoting easy experimentation (i.e. different carts and the sort). For that reason I'm being skewed towards Technics surprisingly, jsut don't think they're the prettiest of things.

For what it's worth, I think you can get wooden plinths made for Technics or custom cases. I think my buddy had a red technics that was an aftermarket mod that looks pretty sweet.
Brought my Fluance to my local hi-fi shop to tackle the sibilance + distortion issues I've been facing the past year+ and he did some small tweaks to my alignment and it worked a miracle. Previously, my Miles Davis - Ascenseur (Sams Record) pressing was unplayable due to a cyclical static noise that persisted through the entire listen. Used it as my test record when I got home and voila!!! ITS GONE, OH HAPPY DAY!
Summer of Soul!!! What a film man, that gospel section with Mavis and Mahalia had me balling like a baby, so much beauty, pain, and power contained within. One of the most moving things I’ve seen in a long time
Just released my first podcast episode since before COVID. Join me as I talk to Adriana McCassim, an LA based indie-rock singer/songwriter that has been compared to a young Sharon Van Etten, by SVE herself. Had an absolute blast, she was a great guest and her music is even better! Check it out
Either these Joni Mitchell pressings are really crappy, or my stylus is jacked, terrible IGD and persistent surface noise on side 2 of Song to a Seagull.

I can say, Clouds sounded MUCH better, but there was still a good deal of sibilance which I’m 90% sure is my stylus. Just ordered an azimuth adjustable headshell to try and fix that

I had a copy of the box set to arrive today, but it didn't. Won't have it till Tuesday now. But man, I was hoping these were like super high quality pressings...

I wound up getting mine yesterday and so far so good. Mine sound great!
Just saw someone call dibs on a 1964 Muddy Water's "Folk Singer" in VG condition for $240 dollars... mans is going to cry when he learns you can grab a 33RPM from AP for like $35. I'm going to let the record store take this win though.
Gah, why did I never grab Method Man's Tical VMP press, kicking myself now. Luckily cog prices aren't insane

I have the VMP version and it’s good but I don’t think it’s any different than the normal version floating around. Not too long ago, if I recall correctly, it was one of the “Free” albums UDiscover Music was offering up.

New Broken Record podcast with Archie Shepp. This podcast is so hit or miss to me, the guy interviewing Archie feels so luke warm its amazing, like he's running down a list of questions and responding with the bare amount of enthusiasm meanwhile Archie is sharing wonderful stories :c
I moved my turntable yesterday, switched places with where the amp was sitting and noticed my records sounded HORRIBLE following, I thought something was wrong with my stylus. Took a long time to realize it wasn’t perfectly leveled, even though it was on the same surface lol, made all the difference :/
Just bought tickets for the Hollywood Bowl to go see Yo-Yo Ma early September followed by James Blake on the 25th and Herbie Hancock on the 26th, had to fight myself to grab tickets for Kamasi Washington as well . Can September hurry up?

If you haven't seen Kamasi live yet I HIGHLY recommend it

I figured he’ll be touring for a while, seems like he’s a regular at the Bowl. He’s doing something with Earl Sweatshirt in a few weeks there, not too keen on the Earl aspect as good as Earl is. Would rather see Kamasi 100% solo
UPS has the most tormenting shipment tracking updates. Which means, they have the absolute bare minimum and it never gives me the kick of dopamine I’m looking for. My NAD C16BEE has just been “On the way” for a week now with no update
Frank Sinatra <3. I don't listen to him much these days but his music really served as a catalyst for my musical journey. Would've paid a fortune to be there at the Sands when he performed his famous concert.

If you like Only the Lonely and In the Wee Small Hours you'll like the 2 I mentioned. They're all lonely, depressing, and love sick

Think those are my two favorite Sinatra albums so yup, sounds right up my alley. Favorite song of his by a country mile is the version of "One For My Baby" on At The Sands.

His run at Capitol was pretty damn great. Check Ebay every now and then as the MOFI box sets can sometimes be pretty attainable.
Can you believe I mentioned in two different zoom meetings at work today that I re-watched John Carpenter's The Thing last night, and not ONE PERSON had seen it. I was expecting a bunch of whoops but instead I got nothing but blank stares. I guess this is the reality of the Millennial/Gen Z work place now
