I have actually picked up a few Super Deluxe type editions on the cheap. Mostly for the liner notes

I like when a CD is $10 or less and the vinyl is $75+, sometimes even higher... my local shop has killer $3 CDs, and even a back room with $1 CDs, good stuff in there, too.

@djdavedk I’ve purchased a handful of CDs recently for completion purposes and they were new. Haven’t been digging for used yet but I’m sure it will happen the next time I go out. There’s something relaxing about hitting play and listening. It’s very underrated.

I scored amazing jazz CD sets at a yard sale that would have been hundreds of dollars on vinyl.

@Ginormousthumbs yeah, I am sure they do. They used to be so ubiquitous, I could play CD’s on my stereo, in the car, in my PC, in my DVD player, in a boombox, discman, etc... and over the past 20 some years they slowly went away. I just realized even if I wanted to listen to a CD (which I don’t) I wouldn’t even be able to.

I am not anti-CD, anybody can enjoy music in whatever format they desire. I personally just don’t enjoy them. Turntables are antiquated but you get the large album art and the analog format which Is nice for at home listening, the CD format doesn’t have any appeal to me. If I wanna just hit play and listen I can do that with digital music files.

That all being said, I collect Cassette Tapes which provide a worse listening experience in every way than pretty much any other physical format. So what I am trying to say is I am very complex man, full of many contradictions. 😀

Vinyl for physical, files on hard drives for everything else.

@TenderLovingKiller® I still have my cassettes too. I’ve flirted with getting rid of them all or only keeping the ones that I don’t own other formats. My problem is that I can’t allow myself to get rid of music. One resurgence I will not allow is the cassette resurgence.

If I buy a CD for under $1 a song, I am way ahead of digital downloads (generally), and I have the CD. I can sell it or give it to someone. I choose the bitrate of the songs I convert for listening on non-disc devices.
