The change in tax laws under the current administration makes it unlikely you'd be able to write it off, regardless. Unless you're a Supreme baller! In which case just ship it all to me instead.

I swear, every year I spend 4 hours itemizing everything only to find out in the end that I get the same amount if I just do the standard deduction thing.

@Tys1 my parents are accountants so I've never done my own taxes. Every now and then I say to them, "oh i have these receipts if you need them!" And they just say, "it doesn't matter."

@JonnyH yeah man, I don’t get it. I think it’s because I’m poor on paper since the military doesn’t tax your allowances (housing, food, etc.) they only tax your basic pay which is typically peanuts.

You can deduct fair market value. Heads up that if it is over $500, you have to do a major inventory/record keeping of the donation.

@JonnyH ditch your parents and find you a slightly sketchy cpa to get those receipts to count lol
