  • In Albuquerque and heading out to a record store this afternoon. What's the best option?! Usually looking for like older used soul/funk.
In the months of Sept & Oct the N&G Fitness group logged 8.28 days of workouts, covered 421 miles and burned 119,369 calories. And we crowned a new champ as @Kris knocked off @debianlinux for the first time in 4 challenges! Join us for the next challenge and stay active this holiday season! See the Fitness! thread for details.
I was able to grab the new random color Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings Keep on Looking 45, and their album Naturally for just $10. Virtual stoop sale success! Still going on for another few hours, check it out!
The prices for Hamilton on vinyl have gone crazy, but I ordered a backordered copy from Deep Discount for $60 and it actually shipped right away and arrived in great shape! Anyone else looking for it, order here and use a 10% off coupon:
RTJ4 showed up yesterday unannounced! No tracking and no Informed Delivery. Working from home tomorrow while the kids are in school, can't wait to blast this one through the house!

It was shipped USPS? I assume yes since you mentioned Informed Delivery. Guess I need to keep an active eye on my mailbox!

Yeah I guess it couldn't have come from USPS without showing up in Informed Delivery, but honestly I didn't even look. Was just surprised to find it at my door haha

@Heath Scratch that, it did come USPS and was in Informed Delivery haha I thought it was something for my wife but she said that came UPS. Looks like it comes from Chino, CA and is listed as coming from EASYPOST/PARCEL PARTNERS. So be on the lookout for that in Informed Delivery!
I was planning on giving my sister my two favorite albums from 2020 on vinyl for her birthday next month. Since when did Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia and the RTJ4 indie pressing become so hard to find?!
The N&G Summer Active Minutes challenge has concluded with 8 participants logging 11.9 days of activity, 757 miles and 182,575 calories burned. @debianlinux once again led the pack with 4d:2h:05m:00s of activity. He's Three-peat champion; can anyone stop his four-peat?! Join us for the next 2 months and get out there and be active! Link below:
Is the Hamilton boxset seriously sold out everywhere? Anyone know if a repress is in the works?
Am I the only one who would love to see the Remember the Titans Soundtrack pressed on vinyl? Such a great collection of classics!
Anyone know where I can find the clear or mint green variants of Lianne La Havas's new album in the states? Everywhere I've looked has been overseas and cost around $40 USD.
Looks like I'll have the afternoon off in Jacksonville today. Not sure if I feel comfortable with it, but if I seek one out, any record store recommendations?

I'm mostly looking for a place with old soul and funk I could look through.

I lived in Jacksonville for a very brief period but I never was into records then unfortunately
Have an idea of why a new diamond tip needle for a jukebox would grind the plastic out of the record? Help me out here!haha more details too:

I've been listening to a playlist with the new Holy Hives, Sam Hunt and RTJ albums in it on repeat all week. So good! But they're so different that the transition between albums catches me off guard, especially RTJ4>Holy Hives haha
After the first listen RTJ4 is fire! The biggest standout for me was 'pulling the pin' and that Mavis Staples chorus. Can't wait to dig into it more!

I tend to overlook it because it was released as a single, but yankee and the brave (ep. 4) might be one of my favorite album openers ever. It brings the heat and sets the stage for the entire album...

..Also I love how the end of firing squad brings yankee and the brave back into it and kind of ties it back into the opener so the album just keeps looping and never ends (I'm a music nerd and love those kind of subtleties haha)

@RowBearToe I was just thinking how yankee and the brave and a few words for the firing squad are the perfect opening and closing tracks
I ordered a bunch of 45s to put in a jukebox and some of them had styrene in the Discogs description. I probably should have figured it out before buying them, but what does that mean? Just the type of plastic used to make the record? Is that a positive or negative thing?

What kinda jukebox do ya have? I have one at my office that my buddy gave to me and it needs a little repairing but it's so fun. I have way too many 45s now though hah. I'd definitely make sure you replace the needle if you haven't already.

@MikeH I'm honestly not too sure haha it's actually my parent's jukebox. They've had it for as long as I can remember but it hasn't worked for the past couple years. My sister and I have been collecting records for like 7 years and for some reason never thought to update the 45s in there with a good mix of old and new stuff...

...We're going to try to repair it on Monday and load it up with some new music for the first time since they got it in '98! We're pretty excited about it, should be fun. But yeah, Monday I'll have a better idea of what kind it is and will most likely order a new stylus as well. What kind do you have? I feel you on the having too many 45s thing, I just bought 20 the other day to put in there next week haha
Join us from June-August for the N&G Summer Active Minutes Challenge! We've done a couple of these already this year and they've been a lot of fun! Join us in the Fitness! thread and get out there and get some exercise in any way you prefer and log them with us:

Our N&G Quarantine Stay Active Challenge through the months of April and May had 7 participants who were active for 7.7 days, ran 503 miles, and burned 114,642 calories! If you're interested in joining an active minutes challenge for the June-August months, let me know in the Fitness! thread

At risk of getting torn apart here, how bad of an idea is it to place my TT on top of my amp? They're currently next to one another, but I'm considering moving them to a smaller space that doesn't allow for that. I'm worried about the heat coming out of the top of the amp (there's space between it and the TT but I don't want it to overheat) and also possible vibrations from the amp affecting TT playback?

I burned a $800 marantz out in less than 24 hours putting the TT on top of it. The amp I had for 20 years prior to that is still running and had the TT on it all those years so, as usual, it depends but I wouldn't risk it with something you don't want to have to replace.

I have a Line Phono stand. It’s not bad. I do like that the footprint is small. I personally don’t think it’s that nice looking of a piece of furniture but I have it in my office and it gets the job done. But make sure your receiver fits in the shelf. Mine didn’t so mine are stacked anyway hah.

@debianlinux o wow that really sucks, sorry! Thanks for the info!
@MikeH I'll be sure to check the dimensions, thanks!
