I did find myself perusing the cd racks the last time I was in a quarantine friendly record shop. I grabbed stuff I wanted in FLAC for my personal archive. Might keep doing that since it was so cheap.

@TransformerMan Oh for sure, used vinyl too. I just miss going into a music shop and buying something I heard was cool from a friend for cheap and being amazed. (For me, an example would be finding the Galaxie 500 Box set for $10). Now, with vinyl being $40+ for a single album, I feel like I need to make sure it’s worth the investment and listen to it 3x on Spotify and read about it on allmusic.

Ugh, or maybe I’m just getting old and into the “back in my day...” phase of my life.

I love a $1-$3 CD, and I buy them.

@TCell yeah, that makes sense. That is how I approached used vinyl back when it was cheap and there was no such thing as streaming. It was literally the way I explored music.

I miss finding good deals in record shops or on eBay....discogs is great but has made everyone and their grandma charge a lot for used records without considering the grading or median prices. So many people are selling even at flea markets for current listed prices on eBay.

Lately, I've done a lot more cheap CD buying than expensive vinyl buying.
