I am sure it's a fine record but at this point the Dylan could take a dump, slap an album title on it and many would declare it a masterpiece. I hope it lives up to the hype but would not be surprised if it did not.

I feel like most of the early reviews I've read, mostly from UK outlets, have provided some legit & honest context for Dylan's more recent output when discussing the new record. I haven't read much from stateside publications though.

@TenderLovingKiller® That's probably true to some degree, but the thing is sitting at a 100/100 on mc right now. It will probably drop, but it's looking to be his best since Modern Times or Love and Theft easily.

I dunno....Rolling Stone didn't give it a full 5 stars, so it probably sucks

I feel like it's going to be something special.

More than maybe anyone else alive, Bob Dylan is really hard to imagine being a real, flesh and blood person. More likely he has ascended into being some kind of mythical Gaimanesque avatar of the 20th century that no longer requires human food or drink to live, only the life force of people who try to decode the inscrutable things he says.

If Bob just sat down and did nothing else he still rakes in 10’s of millions a year on songwriting royalties alone. Say what you will but the man is not out there touring and writing more for the money, it’s just what he does.

I think it is really amazing that in the year 2020, we're still getting original compositions from him. I know, I know...some of the music may have been lifted or borrowed in places, but the fact that he still has things he wants to say at this point is remarkable. It may even surprise him to a certain degree.
