  • If you liked Rosalia's latest album you should check this video out, where a music Youtuber breaks down the music and production along with her! Great watch, and with English subtitles.
Did Rosalia sample "How much a dollar cost" on her new song Diablo, or is she just using the sameish chords?
I just switched the cartridge on my TT (to one that has some use on it) and the signal volume seems to have dropped. Do different cartridges vary in output or is this a coincidence?

I don't know what preamp you use, but on some you can adjust the gain to match to the characteristics of your cart. I'd say hit up the gear threads and you will have good suggestions by knowledgeable people there

Thanks for tour comments yall! Both cartridges are MM, and I use the built-in preamp on my Kanto Y4 speakers. Ill visit the gear threads and further dive into the issue there.

I doubt that you can change the phono gain with the Kanto, but you can crank the volume. It’s just a thing with cartridges that there are variances from model to model; the trial is part of the fun!
Argh! After missing out on the initial Classic pressing of McCoy Tyner's "The Real McCoy", I could finally order it from Amazon, only to receive a heavily bent copy inside one of those plastic envelopes instead of a regular cardboard mailer.
Do I need the Antartica pressing of Mwandishi that my local is selling? Or do I have enough Herbie Hancock records in my collection already?

I can't speak to a definition of enough but I can confirm there is no such thing as too much. If that helps. ;)
Anyone here owns the latest Rhino pressing of Aretha's "Young, Gifted and Black"? Hows the sound and pressing quality?
After months of uncertainty, My copy of Grae was lost in transit, so Secretly sent a replacement last week. I got it today, and while I'm happy to finally own this record on vinyl, they sent the black and white variant, and not the marbled one I secured on the pre-order a long time ago. Should I shoot them an email? Or should I leave it like that?

IIRC there wasn't a price difference, but the marbled one was more limited and sold out on pre-order. I'm assuming they ran out of that variant, so they sent a standard B&W variant as a replacement. I mean, there's no big deal, but the marbled one is way prettier, and costs more than double on Discogs lol.

I would. You didn’t receive what you had ordered.

I would message them for sure. Hopefully they make it right. Secretly is usually pretty good about that kind of stuff in my experience. Worst thing that could happen is that they don’t do anything and you still have the record.
Man, fuck ICE! Their new policy in regards to foreign students is extremely xenophobic. I guess they don't want brown people to breathe American air unless it is absolutely necessary.

Yeah, like, the US clearly benefits from having the greatest minds from all over the world in their universities. My brother will most likely stay there after his PhD and work as a researcher in an American institution, contributing to the country in one way or another. But they clearly just care about the benefits these people bring to the US, and don't want to give the slightest thing to these students.

Basically the reason the "sticker price" for universities is so high is that they can charge that to certain groups of people (ie rich people). Then they can give out lavish scholarships to local kids so they can afford it. What happens when all he rich Chinese kids stop coming though?

I'm an immigration attorney, but I have nothing to add; you guys have said it all. Bad policy that does nothing good for the country.
I've realized that I spend way more time thinking about/discussing/buying music than actually listening and enjoying it. Anyone else has this problem? Is there a thread here where we could talk about it?

    start a thread!

I mean a thread where we can talk about the (un)balance of discussing vs listening, and whether there should be such balance. So it would basically be a discussion about the excess of discussions we have that keep us from actually engaging with the music hahaha
I was already planning 5-6 vinyl purchases for this month, but my boss just told me that she will fire some of my coworkers. I'm safe for the moment, but who knows how long that will be the case. Will have to put vinyl purchases on pause for a couple of months.
Man, Pharoah Sanders has a beautiful tone when playing mellow melodies.

Pharoah Sanders - Love in Us All is one of my favorites if you aren't familiar with it.

Just read the mess that had written lol. What I was trying to convey is how beautiful his tone is when he plays ballads.. It's hard to believe he's the same man when he plays "out there"
