Definitive Audiophile pressings

The one I have is going for $30 on Discogs
Yeah, I am sure the Pallas pressing is fine too. I had the single disc Back To Black pressing and felt like the 2xLP was an upgrade over that. I haven’t compared it with the Pallas reissue but if if it’s comparable to the Nevermind Pallas reissue I am sure it sounds good also.

So I think I have a Grundman Pallas USA pressed Nevermind though I honestly have no idea how I have it or where I bought it from.
If it has ORG crossed out in the dead wax that’s probably one of the best sounding versions you can get. People also love the OG. I don’t know that the MoFi stacks up too much weirdly despite it probably being one of the more expensive pressings.

Exactly the same for me. I think I bought it in college probably right when it came out in 2013 but I have no idea where I bought it from. I actually listened to it not too long ago and it sounds good. It’s a pretty bright recording. I really don’t play it too often and same goes for most nirvana. If I do reach for something, it’s probably In Utero.

If he orders this, I will beat him to death with it when it arrives.

Oh by the way, @Ghost I just got my copy of Sarah Vaughan and it's flawless. So either you got insanely unlucky or there's an alignment issue going on somewhere...

I was thinking I might have an alignment issue after listening to some of the AS series records.

I think I have a pressing defect on the Getz/ Gilberto. Sounds amazing except for 2 bits on one track where there is a grating sound. I’ll put it through for a a 3rd clean, hopefully that will help.

All of the AS series I’ve had have needed thorough cleaning, whilst they sound great, I don’t think they are produced in the same way as some of the AP albums I have.

I’m wondering if they are all cut a little hot and I need to spend more time on the TT set up, maybe get a microscope & a test record. Spend some hours learning more about alignment and set up

I might see if I can get a rip of the CD since I doubt I’ll find the vinyl anywhere for any amount I’d want to actually pay for it!

I believe the standard pressing is supposed to sound pretty great, pressed at Pallas

Same, but I found the gold CD Mofi "Sea Change" for a very good price, and it's amazing, so that's a potential substitute.

I realize I'm a very bad person for mentioning digital here. Mea culpa.
A few years ago I 'won' a copy of the 2009 MOFI 2lp Beck Sea Change for around £60 on eBay. It would have been my first MOFI and the reviews tend to be fantastic, with people saying its the best sounding record they own etc. I was really excited for it.......until it was lost in the post. For months both me and the seller sent countless emails to the postal service to try and locate it with no luck. I got a full refund but im still gutted about that one, goes for more than double that price nowerdays.

I have that one and it does sound good...I just know it can sound better! Haha. My buddy has the MoFi and I’ve heard it at his place and the mastering is more detailed somehow.

Perhaps another mastering engineer to keep an eye out for on pressings. She did the latest Haim record, which sounds incredible.

I don't know if I have had many, or any, by Emily Lazaar. But just got my copy of the Goldfrapp - Seventh Tree reissue through & has 'vinyl cut by Emily Lazar, assisted by Joe LaPorta' on the liner notes. First track sounds great.

Might be one to look out for when KG gets his restraining orders sorted @MikeH
