Hip Hop

Well Shady says...

:devilish: I love Slim Shady LP still. His rhyme schemes are just too fun. Don't listen to anything past that though.

Plenty of people give the dude money and praise him. Folks I respect give him a top 5. He's doing fine. That still doesn't change my personal opinion or make me excited about him being on another Conway track. He doesn't make them better or even bother to adapt away from his basic shtick, so it's more of a liability than a benefit when he pops up to derail things, in my opinion. He's just always bored me. Like Taylor Swift, he'll always have a mob of fervent defenders coming to his rescue, though, as if he needs it. He's just not my thing.

I'm old enough to remember when the "My Name Is..." video first came out and it just irritated me from the jump. Then I watched it move up the #1 spot on TRL alongside Christina Aguilera and Backstreet Boys, but he was a wacky class clown "bad boy." Just heavy suburban high school vibes for me. Like Marilyn Manson or Lady Gaga playing "outsider" when they're at the same parties and award shows while on MTV 24hrs a day.

I could just never get down with this whole movement of Sublime kids being "hip hop." Not my scene.

Anyone know what happened to the Organized Grime vinyl? I was tracking the stock on it and it seemed like there was a decent amount left still last I checked but now there seem to be none when I just looked?

Do you VMP folks expect this Man on the Moon pressing to be available for a little while? I am interested because it says it's a remaster but my old copy sounds pretty great to me already, so I want to wait and see if this turns out to be the definitive version

It was on hhv, vinyl digital, and bandcamp when I last checked as well but looks like it's all gone now.

As a white kid that grew up in the 2000s, Eminem was pretty unavoidable and I enjoyed a fair bit of his music when I was younger, but the idea of going out of my way to willingly put on any Eminem these days kind of makes me cringe. I respect that many see him as one of the greats and the man has undeniable technical abilities, but I just have no reason to listen to an Eminem album in 2021. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeesh I didn't think his Bang verse was that bad lol.

In al seriousness, if Conway agreed to a full album with Em then I would assume he wouldn't be down if Em was going to just do some gofy shit all over it. I think we'd see a meeting in the middle somewhere and could be good. Esp if Em starts opening up to Alc production styles more.

Any chance we think this rumored album is GDMM?? Seems odd that he'd have his one Shady album followed up by an album with Em (if it's even true)
