Definitive Audiophile pressings

My only regret when the 1st One-Step MoFi Santana came out is I only bought one copy. :).
It's so funny that within the span of a few years, I went from thinking even $35/record was insane to just casually buying $100 albums as soon as they go live haha. There are tons of titles I wish I had bought back then but I just didn't have the disposable income and wasn't as into records back then.

Wow, I will give them this, 9 mins after I emailed about the mistake they fully refunded and emailed to say its being processed. Very good service, especially considering it was my mistake!
Yea--they have excellent CS from my experience. I've become a big fan of their label as of late.

I've often wondered why these more-expensive limited batch releases don't focus on the more obscure albums. When it comes to jazz for example there are a lot of albums which the 'general public' might not buy, but which avid fans would pay good money for (and I mean really silly money!). The limitedness of the batch means they don't need to release something super popular to ensure it sells out.

2017 me literally said this sentence to my wife: "Don't worry, no way am I paying $80.00 for a damn record."

2017 me was a fucking know nothing fool living in a GAWDDAMNED FANTASY LAND

Jazz has become more popular in recent years, but the more "obscure stuff" just didn't sell well for awhile. The Joe Henderson "The Elements" repress from them was limited to 1,000 I believe and only $25 for an AAA copy and took years to sell out from what I recall.

Ah that's really interesting and surprises me. I have been deep into the jazz vinyl Instagram pages for a while now and while the more known titles tend to get the most 'likes', I have found the more obscure releases are the ones that get the most comments and they are usually along the lines of 'this needs a decent repress' etc. I guess there is a fine line to take and clearly less risk with releasing bigger titles.

circular15 gives you 15 % off as well.

Thanks Mike. I ended up getting 2 orders in & am now trying to cancel 1.

I was on a zoom call & slightly panicked when I saw your first post. So I went through and ordered a copy anyway, in-between talking to someone else & trying to answer fairly complex questions. Guess how that turned out :)

Somehow I managed to place an order, without paying much attention to the Craft site at all & completely missing the fact that you had posted a discount code & it was available on the international store.

Quick order on the International store (discount worked) & hopefully I can cancel the US one.

Cheers

Went for it too. The packaging looks stellar, much better than the clumsy MoFi UDOS
I'm really excited for the packaging because as you said, the MoFi One Step packaging sucks on a practical level. I ended up just separating the albums from the boxes and putting the albums on my shelves in a separate section. I've heard that the UHQRs are way nicer in that you can just slide the box out (somewhat similar to the Radiohead In Rainbows box in terms of being more of a hardcover "sleeve" instead of having a separate box + lid.). I don't have any UHQRs yet though.

Yaaaaaas queen!

$85 isn’t bad! Again was kinda half hoping $50-75 to put the cat amongst the pigeons but all in all that’s much better than I expected!

Not available on their international website makes me a bit sad though.

it was always called small batch. but not sure numbers. since it ships street date (feb 19), i'm guessing it still will be pretty low because these things take awhile to press. i don't think they would have jumped from 1,000 to a ton more within the span of a week.

Wasn't it the press release that stated 1000, or is 1000 the small batch?

I did the same but ordered 2 on the UK store. Within a few minutes of requesting a cancellation on the first one I had the money back in my account, so you should be good.

I know im repeating myself but im seriously impressed at how quick they responded.

In all the Craft Small Batch excitement my also want to rem the Impex just is arriving and it is getting good reviews.

I have found from my time on Hoffman and the IG jazz vinyl world that there are a lot of hardcore jazz fans that seem anti-repress and would rather track down a NM original. It's not the biggest contigent but still a factor. When you consider the size of these box sets and that you lose money just from inventory shelf space for every one that doesn't sell, some places are probably scared off from pressing 1,000+ copies of an expensive product that might not sell. It's a bit easier of a sell to do a $25 AAA copy of more out there stuff. I do wish that some company will take it on though, but it's a bit hard of a sell when you have titles like Lush Life that can probably sell 1,000 in a day.

I'm kind of surprised to be honest that it hasn't sold out yet with only 1,000 copies at this price point.

Yea--people were confused about it though because originally the website said 1,000 copies but then it got deleted (this was before it "officially" launched).

The Impex is $150 right? And for me, it's a snooze of a title. I know some people are into it though. I hope they do some titles that are more up my alley (although maybe its better this way for me...)

Yeah thats very true, there definitely is a strong preference to first pressings (and even that is muddy when the question to which the first pressing is coming into play).

So am I, I was thinking this would be a minimum of £100 plus postage here in the UK as well.
