RSD 2020

BTW a lot of RSD exclusives can be pre-ordered from French shops and I strongly recommend Balades Sonores. I don't know if they are allowed to sell and ship outside of France but it doesn't hurt to ask. I pre-ordered Bone Thugs'n' Harmony, Gene Russell and both Gorillaz for me and there are a lot of other available.

Im trying to get that Kevin Morby Live In Paris but i cant find a store that will ship to US

I haven't been following closely but I still think it would be borderline criminal for stores to hold business-as-usual RSDs this year. Hopefully preorders will be widely available.
The shop I usually go to operates in the basement of a book store and are considering holding the event outside, hoping that it'll be safer for those that show up.

I have no idea what I store is doing. I don't know if they are participating or not. I don't honestly care at this point. I gave up on it and was ok with it not happening for a while now. It was the last visit I went to and we both agreed that Black Friday may be best for this all, but whatever happens happens. I am ok with getting NO RSD Releases this year. All I honestly wanted was the poster from this year.

hmmm, thing is, i assume the majority (if not all) of RSD releases were already in the process of being finished and ready to distribute by the time quarantine happened, so these releases will see a way out into stores somehow. but yea, there should be more control on people turnout and making sure there are no safety violations.

also, correct me if im wrong, but i think i remember seeing somewhere that the RSD company will actually let individual record stores decide how to distribute the releases. i.e. let record shops sell the RSD releases online from the get-go instead of the usual two-weeks-after-the-event period. in my opinion, i think this might be how most record stores will approach the upcoming rsd dates.

Walrus Disquaire has done a very good job as well with preorders on the first date in June. Shipping is fair.
It might be the first and only women owned record dealer in France to my knowledge.

You can have the record shipped to me and I ship it back to you if you want, but at the moment shipping a single record to the US is around $30 or so. Let me know if I can be of any help.

In the U.K. the stores can sell online after 5pm on the Rsd day ...

Thing is that a lot of record shop are struggling and are in urgent need of money to survive. RSD is an important date for them and will help if pre-orders are allowed. If they can't accept pre-orders and have to buy a huge stock of records that they may not sell, it will be the end for them. If they can accept and can be sure that they will sell most of the RSD releases they will buy, then it will be ok (even if ok doesn't mean they will survive). I sincerely hope all countries will allow pre-orders as they are doing in France.

Agree ...it makes no sense that a business that has been shut for months, has limited cash flow has to take a gamble on ordering stock for a day that they have no idea how many will turn up and will have to limit numbers gong into store along with PPE and sanitisers etc ...my local knows what I want ..surely better for them to order it for me and I go and collect whatever they managed to get at a designated time

Is it an easy process to use for that site? Did you have any trouble with your orders? There are some UK RSD 2020 releases I want. Did they ship them to you immediately when RSD started?

Think it’s easier for me to try to get them to ship to USA, or would I need to have any UK releases sent to someone (you?!) and then sent to me?

In both cases it would be easier to order and have your recorfs shipped to the US. Thing is that I don't know if they will ship outside of France. If you order from Balades Sonores you can ask to pick up the record at the store and I'll do it for yoy. Just keep in mind that it costs me around $30 to have a record shipped frop France to the US (up to 1kg).

I’m only after the Bloodflowers in August. I’m hoping that because it’s a picture disc the demand won’t be huge and I can just buy it online.

I can imagine your avatar character in line at RSD just energy-sucking the life out of an entire line of collectors with tales of his search through the 90's for Bloodflowers - era CD singles all so he could get his picture disc

Under normal circumstances, yes. But this year I’m going to try my luck online 😁
