Political Discussion

Lots of shady shit going on with these protests. Piles of bricks being left around the Dallas protests, all of the arrests in Minneapolis being out of towers, and a lot of white people burning and damaging property while BLM pleads for them to stop.

While you could certainly chalk some of it up to anarchists getting their rocks off, our intelligence agencies have a long history of infiltrating and turning public opinion against true and just movements and uprisings.

and our agencies have a long history of white supremacy...

Edit: love this man

St. Paul wasn't touched last night. The police coordinated with the N.G. and were out protecting property. Minneapolis PD stood down and refused to coordinate. They were happy to defend their stations, but left the city to burn.

Edit: Thought this Trevor Noah piece was thoughtful.

Did that dangerous orange buffoon really suggest that tonight was MAGA night in front of the White House? Sincere question. I don't want to spread misinformation but I don't follow that "man" on the Twitter so I'm asking.
Twitter Pro tip. Create a “politics” list and add him along with anyone else that does not deserve a follow to that. That way you can be cognizant of what the buffoon is tweeting. It also keeps his shit out of your main feed because who wants that when you are just trying to see everyone’s reaction to Gigi Good getting robbed during RuPaul’s Drag Race finale last night.

In my shitty hometown last night a man drove his suv into a crowd of protesters and struck a 15 yo girl. Luckily nobody was seriously injured. I accidentally clicked a link to a Facebook post from a local news page and most of the comments were defending this guy 😐😐😐 “what was a 15 yo girl doing at a protest” “stay out of the street” “he was protecting himself”

Saw that... I'm not sure how to describe it. It's both incredibly sad and academically interesting that the response from not just one person but a large swath of people seem to both classify everybody by some perceived politics and then blame whomever they have labeled their political other, while completely ignoring the forest for their tree.

There are many scenes such as this in more than 30 cities.

But guess what Most auto insurance policies do not cover acts of terrorism or riots. They won't be footing the bill.

That is not wholly accurate, each company offers different policies and excludes different forms of damage. Typically acts of war are excluded (which terrorism may fall under but I digress) If they carry a Comprehensive Auto policy it would most likely cover vandalism which these act would most likely fall under (again, every insurer is different so it would be hard to paint with a broad brush). I would say if these automobile owners carried Comp coverage their damage may be covered. they would still unfortunately likely be on the hook for their deductible unless the police were able to arrest the guilty party then it is possible the Insurer may be able to recoup the cost of the deductible via subrogation From the guilty parties (super unlikely). The bigger issue would be most people carry the minimum state required insurance which is typically Liability only and Liability insurance only cover bodily injury and property damage that the insurer is responsible for. So while you are right that most of these vehicle owners won’t be compensated by their insurance it is more to do with the fact that most people don’t purchase policies to cover damages to their own property than due to some sort of riot or terrorism loophole.

Most insurance companies have excluded acts of terrorism in their policies. I know my Liberty Mutual policy specifically says I'm not covered in that event, even with a full comprehensive auto policy which I'm legally required to carry in this state. MA requires any leased car or car you have a loan out for to have a fully comprehensive auto policy. My policy also excludes riots and sport championship celebrations.

When asking them for coverage of it, they say they don't have coverage. There is no rider you can buy / addon.

This has been pretty common since 9/11.

One of my co-workers has a friend whose car was damaged in the Boston Marathon Bombing. He filed a claim and was rejected. The insurance company citied acts of terrorism are not covered.

MA has some of the most restrictive Auto Insurance requirements in the country. Lots of insurance companies don’t even sell auto in MA because of it. As I said, Terrorism would likely be considered an exclusion by most insurers however the examples you note are different than someone vandalizing a car, if that was accurate then what would stop Ins Companies from claiming a Terrorism exclusion when dumb kids shoot out Car windows in a neighborhood with a Bee-bee gun. They don’t because that is vandalism and covered under most insurance comprehensive auto policies. Again, Your overall point is still valid because most people don’t carry Comp unless they have to but those that have Comp (in most cases) would likely have the damage covered as vandalism minus their deductible.

... but again, every insurer is different.

Philly was peaceful for the most part. Tried to knock over a statue we have who was a former Mayor/racist cop and set a cop car on fire, but no one was in it.

Never mind another fire and the city is on mandatory curfew .

Edit a lot of damage, and looting could be in for a long night.
