Have you sent back the Amazon one yet? you could merge the best parts of each and return the discarded to Amazon. Their "generous" return policy wouldn't know the difference.I just can't seem to catch a break with this Ornette Coleman box set. First, the one I ordered from Amazon was battered to hell, and now this one that I ordered and picked up from WHSmiths has a duplicate of one record, with the correct one missing, plus the first LP is mega warped. At this point, I might give up if it cant be replaced.
On the plus side I picked up a copy of 'Miles Davis: The Definitive Biography' by Ian Carr today for £1.99

I love all of this. I am hoping Udiscover will send out the 5 LP's that they were delayed (Live at Club Mozambique being one of em) at the end of January as they are now stating but who knows I am still waiting on an order that was supposed to be delivered in Early November so I am not holding my breathe.

I thought of this as well, but the Amazon one had pretty bad dinks to each jacket. Its wrapped up ready to go back but im tempted to open it up to check how bad the one specific record is. Its one of those where im paying a decent amount of money and really just want a mint set as well. Screw it, im opening it up to check.
Edit: I dont want to clog up this thread (which should be full of joy!) with my woeful problems any more than I have, but I have just opened up the amazon box (Box 'A') again and pulled out the record missing in the WHSmiths box (Box 'B'). While its still damaged, its not as bad as the others in 'A' and im tempted to use the opportunity to make sure I have a full un-warped box set by switching them up as @TenderLovingKiller® suggested.
Out of interest, what would you guys do in this situation? Any advice would be fantastic. My main worry is if I manage to get a refund/replacement on this then the same thing might happen.

Alright, so here is my thought... sort out your best of both shipments. Then return and have them send out a replacement copy. If that copy Come in perfect condition great! Keep that one and return the slightly damaged one for a refund if you receive another damaged copy well, hopefully the one jacket that is still beat on your “compilation” copy is in good shape, and again pull out the best parts and then return/refund the shit copy. It might not be the most ethical way but selling shitty poorly package box sets for $$$ isn’t a great business practice either.

I wouldn’t sleep well. It’s not much different than pocketing the difference in value between a full set with aesthetic damage and a partial set. I would think the value of the former would be higher than the latter when it’s relisted as a Warehouse deal.
Setting ethics aside, it would also take away the opportunity to report the manufacturing error of an incomplete set back to the label.
My two cents; take what’d you’d like and leave the rest.

It’s never been a secret that I love MJ. I know I’ve talked to @Dead C many times about it and have had conversations about it but, I told him one day I would grab this.
As a kid, I would follow his music, his stories and watch his videos as his videos told stories. It wasn’t until I was in my early teens that I actually listened to his lyrics and understood some of the messages he was trying to convey.
I know a lot of people’s opinion about MJ are mostly negative. Yes, he was a strange individual but his music is powerful and will always give me chills.

the second disc of history is underrated. they don't care about us, stranger in moscow, earth song, and little susie especially are songs that are among his best, imo.

Quite right. This is one of the releases(aside from a few CDs) that have the unedited lyrics to They Don’t Care About Us before he had to re-record. After the release and he got so much push back from everyone claiming it was antisemitism.
Just a wonderful compilation.

@Dark Star Boogie gets indirect and direct props respectively for me acquiring both of these albums. He made a comment about kinda wanting Bad Vibes which piqued my interest and after listening through it a few times I kinda wanted it too so I used the discount code to pick it up. Dark Star didn’t cancel his Hip-Hop in time so we traded I received Raising Hell and appropriately enough he chose Ill Communication. I am extremely happy with both!

Mine is flat and sounds superb. I actually ended up with two copies since the first copy I received had a nasty corner ding.
Are you a current member and is Moses still in stock? Could ya cancel your your orders and then reorder them separately so you don’t have to wait Months?

I thought about it and reached out to customer service. The only problem is I used the 30% off code for that order so I basically got a “free” record out of the deal. I’m also sketched out with messing with VMP at this point. They told me they’re holding the others for me but I don’t want to disrupt them anymore in fears of them straight up canceling the order. I’m probably one of the few that has had luck with reaching CS and then making things right so I’ll give them time. Plus, I have enough new records that I need to spin more.
A few interesting used finds.
Connexion - Third Eye (2013): German repress of the 1977 jazz fusion/spiritual/bop gem by the Netherlands jazz quartet led by Jamaican saxophonist Wilton Gaynair. I feel lucky to have found this copy in the US.
Ahmad Jamal - Outertimeinnerspace (1972): Second album of live performances by Jamal at the 1971 Montreux Jazz Festival. One song per side, each containing a long improv performance by the legendary, prolific jazz pianist and his band.
A trio of dark, arctic ambient/drone albums by German artist Thomas Köner. Clockwise from top left: Nunatak Gongamur (1990), Teimo (1992) and Permafrost (1993). These are the 2010 Type reissues of his first three albums, originally released on the Dutch label Barooni. Nunatak was recorded using only electronically controlled gongs.
