  • Blake Sleeves - found at my new favourite AU record store Dutch Vinyl. They're affordable, great quality outers. Their range of quality vinyl is right up there as well, check out their Essential Album section.

These guys would make a great Australian vinyl club

That’s where I get my outer sleeves too! But I feel like outer sleeves I fiddle-y, so I don’t use them anymore. I just make sure I’ve got a high quality inner sleeve (Diskeeper Ultimate inner sleeves)! 🧰✨♻️

Dutch vinyl are a great store! They’re definitely one of my favourite record stores here in Melbourne! I plan on going there soon to get a Miles Davis 10” Sam Records pressing! 👌💎🙏

Loving this Melbourne record store chat! Need to get fully up to speed with the good shops. So far I've only hit Greville and a couple in the CBD when I was visiting. Got the wee fold out guide last time I was over, so I plan on going through that...
Hi all, long time no read, I hope everyone has managed to stay healthy and happy so far...
Happy birthday @Joe Mac, mine's tomorrow mate, 13 May and guess what, my in-laws thought it might be a good idea to purchase a 6 month membership (now credit) to VMP as a gift...faaark, of all places!!!! Vinyl is vinyl though. Is there anything on the way (store drop) worth waiting for? TIA :)

    Thank you!

Honest answer, don't know, I'm happily out of that particular loophole!

Cheers mate, glad you're still here. What's been going on?

I've had a quick scan through...can't miss the VMP negativity, which I use to be very much a part of, but surprised that FA's long awaited arrival went down like a lead balloon. They really can't win...I have credit to spend though, so I must stay positive.

Cheers! Yeah I still enjoy hanging with the people in here! Hope you’ve been keeping well!

I think it was the pricing. If you weren’t a member it was $55 international or $45 in the states. Even as a member $34 seemed steep for a 1LP reissue of an album with no significant extras. Also they’re still dicks!
I like a lot of music, we all do. I have a lot of it, we all do and it represents different moments in my life, each album is like a diary, but one song that really takes me back to times gone by is this...

I don't know what it is, everything about it perhaps, in particular Scotts vocals, they get better after each song, but I get the most vivid emotive life memories from it...
    Crikeys its hot!
Albeit very late (I've been distracted), happy new year vinyl lovers.

Midnight Vultures never gets old...there's something for everyone on this album, he's so bloody versatile.

I was really hoping the 20th Anniversary in November would inspire a repress but that doesn't seem to be the case. It's gotta happen someday tho.

I’ve come so close to buying an original it’s not even funny.

The OG was in November. We still have time! We just gotta believe.
Everyone just needs to stop for a moment and stop producing music - there's new music, new releases/pre-orders from favourite acts, exclusives, here there and everywhere....STOP IT. YOU'RE SENDING ME BROKE!!!
Am working on some tech designs at the moment for a client. Its Saturday arvo and I need some music to motivate through the next couple of hours to get it done...not too heavy, not too soft, just right :). I'm into post punk, new wave, garage rock, blues, blues rock and deep driving jungly beats... and I can't be arsed flipping vinyl at the moment but I have Spotify at my fingertips... Something new?
Have been listening to the 'Alternative 70s' playlist on Spotify and its awesome. It got me to thinking hypothetically. If the 70s and all of its music was erased from history and our memories, 1) would we be experiencing early 2000's music now or 2) could we have taken some alternate route after the 60s and in that case, where might we be today, hypothetically?

    [puts spliff down and contemplates]

Hmmm....without funk, disco, the foundations of electronic music, and heavy metal....I dunno where we would be today...some wildly experimental jazz?

Not to mention, would we have had the proliferation of punk and post-punk without the arena rock and prog of the 70s?
Sometimes when I listen to The Cure, all other music ceases to exist. It's sublime and engulfs me.
The latest VMP ROTM's have done nothing for me and given all that has transpired recently, I think I'm going to delete my membership? Should I stay or should I go?

Done... I'm out. I don't want the albums and my money can be spent better elsewhere. Thanks for the clarity.

I cancelled mine yesterday. There's nothing I really want right now either.

...and we can do this now because the forum no longer keeps us plugged in - much easier to let go.
