Pre-Order Thread

Yea--I saw them perform at a record store and they are the nicest guys ever and fun live. They took the time out to talk to every single person in the audience before the show and then signed anything and everything afterwards. I bought their record that day but have barely spun it. I agree they are more fun live. I can't on hate them really. Also I figure that the label is the one pushing all the variants. They keep selling out so why not keep pressing them?

It just feels like FOMO creation and I’ve never really liked that. Just keep a variant in press as the standard or even, shock horror, a standard black once the initial variant(s) sell out?

I get it’s not the band and is likely label/management but when your name is on it you have to accept some responsibility no?

That said at this stage it’s more just a kinda running joke than anything else. Particularly as they have spent nearly 3 years repressing their debut with no sign of any new music.

I mean their hit song warned us about all these different colors after all.

The strategy seems to be smaller represses in different colors which is pretty clever and as long as they have the capacity, it's really not a big deal to me. If you have one you like to just let them flow by. In many ways, I feel like it's a lot less FOMO-y than other variant methods since you can be pretty confident that even if you sleep on a variant, in three months there will be another cool variant you can get or that the after-market options will be so diluted that it'll be hard to really price every single variant at too much of a premium.

I'll say I certainly like this more than pre-order induced panic trying to figure out which of the three variants is the one you want and then getting the music eight months later in a different color because they couldn't deliver on what was promised. There is also something kind of nice about knowing more precisely when a pressing occurred in case there is a defective run or situations improve (like I think the more recent 6131 Sprained Ankle pressings have fewer issues than earlier ones from Discogs reports)

Now there is a real argument that the Black Pumas are taking up pressing plant time and resources they shouldn't be which I'd find to be a fair criticism.

I wouldn't be mad if Spiritualized spaced these out a bit more. They're taking a lot of my money in a short amount of time.
I just need them to do Songs in A&E and my Spiritualized collection will be compete after Let it Come Down.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS and thank you to @zdkaiser for posting that code. I've ordered the first 3 and completely forgot each time.

I’m beginning to like them less and less…anyone else ?
Same.

I saw them live on the first day of Railbird Festival (Fyrebird day), and they were getting visibly frustrated that not many people were waving the arms or clapping with them. So much so that he threatened (still not sure if serious or not) to cut the set short if we didn't. Bruh, it's 90+ degrees, we're all dehydrated from lack of water access, and you're gonna do this to us? Forget that.

While we're on the topic of Let it Come Down Spiritualized, I wanted to share one of my all time favorite live performances. This is during the Acoustic Mainlines tour where they played songs in a stripped down, acoustic set up with strings and orchestra. This is "Anything More" which slowly and beautifully transitions into "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space". The Rhodes piano during the transition gets me every time. Give it a listen ⬇️

EDIT: This version is actually the best one but it's audio only
