DAY 06: TARTAN DAY
Play something Scottish
Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap

The first band that came to mind when I saw today challenge. B&S is one of my all time favorites, I figured someone woulda beat me to em.

Also: one of my shining Twitter moments was when Stuart Murdoch “liked” one of my tweets...

Coincidence or intentional choice after saying you missed "snarky" pitchfork reviews? This may be a better example of "bad" than snarky though.

Yeah, that original review was absurd. I think it has since been scrubbed from the site and replaced with one of their glowing Sunday reviews in an attempt to rewrite history.

EDIT: Yup...

DOUBLE EDIT: Thankfully the internet never forgets...

Yeah, here's the original if anyone curious. Just seems absolutely ridiculous that they gave it a 0.8 after loving If You're Feeling Sinister. And the review is basically "This isn't ...Sinister, I don't like it as much!"

I hadn't played this in a while. I didn't remember my pressing was filled with swishing and non-fill on top of not being great. It pushes this up the list for a new copy, because as far as I'm concerned I don't have an Abbey Road now. It went straight to the goodwill pile after playing it - I can't even pif this in good conscience.

EDIT: How's the 50th?
Can't speak to the recent ones but have heard that you generally can't go wrong with a 70s UK copy. Happy with mine.

But damn, those on Discogs right now are not cheap.... it's tough when you can't look at the condition yourself before forking out close to C$100 for a VG+. I'll keep looking though.

There's a ton of 70s listings on Discogs due to differences in runout so I'd check a few. The one I have is, I think, this which has a few cheaper but a lot more than I paid! Used to be loads around $20. Wouldn't be surprised if you could find a better deal on eBay if you search a while. I guess I should stop recommending used as readily with how crazy prices have gone recently!

Not sure how everyone else does it, but with older records with a bajillion pressings, I've had some success starting with the master listing and then filtering down via year, country, etc. to get a wider marketplace listing

Like this is the search for Canadian Currency + 1978 Date + Abbey Road + Vinyl - there's a handful in a reasonable range condition and pricing wise. Obviously, if it's not what you're looking for it's not but WAY easier than going to each darn pressing and praying. 1976 has a few listings too. The issue with this is specifically the UK pressing portion but easier to look and cross off than go through each UK listing even
