Cables - one of the most taboo subjects in audio

the thing that makes me unsure about any higher quality "audiophile" cables is how much of it is snake oil
Unfortunately you'll never find a conclusive answer to this on the internet. Some people claim even in $100K+ systems then can't tell the difference between cables. Others say that cables can do wonders for even $1000 systems.
If you're the type that can't hear the difference, enjoy your music and save your money. If you believe in cables, then invest in them appropriately.

But honestly the only conclusive answer you will find is with your own ears.

i was mostly wondering between BJC or audioquest evergreens (the mani will be the preamp and the amp will be a monoprice liquid spark)
I agree with all the BJC vs Audioquest Evergreens. Not saying BJC beats out all audioquest cables, but on those two I'd go BJC.

Added a CXC and with it I also worked in a Kimber DV30. That's right, I'm bringing digital cables in now for anyone who's already skeptical about cables. lol.

I'm not saying this is the end all be all of digital cables. Not by a mile. But I was with a friend who has a LOT of cables, and I asked what coax cables he'd be willing to part with at a certain price point. We ran through 5 or 6 different ones, and the Kimber is the one that followed me home. His system is exponentially more reveling than mine, which makes it a bit easier to highlight the differences with each cable, but I enjoyed the process and I'm very happy with the final results in my system now.

For anyone ready to burn me at the stake... I judge with my ears, and I feel everyone else should do the same. If it saves you money, good on you. I've found that in my opinion, it's money well spent :)

Another possibility: I just popped onto Schiit's website, and they're now linking to Amazon Basics cables. 1/3 the price of the Blue Jeans too. They've also recommended Monoprice in the past.
I don't know if any of us have experience with these brands though.

I have Amazon Basics. I have never used any other kind of cable. I have no idea if I should be looking to upgrade this or not.

I would make cables just about the last thing I would upgrade. There are too many other options that have a proven and uncontroversial effect.

Then again, I'm sure I'll get roasted for saying that in the cable page.

I think with cables it’s all depends on your system. Putting mega cables in a starter system is nuts but there is definitely scope for decent jumps in quality with better cables once you are getting to where you want to end up system wise.

@JohnnyCashFan Here’s your cable thread. In the price range you asked about ($100-200 per pair) I really like the Analysis Plus Oval Ones.

I actually did but the evergreens and they do sound nice, I realized before I got it my ground hum issue was because of either the specific M-audio speaker I was connecting my headphones to, or because the preamp was right on top of that speaker which was on the carpeted floor

The cables sound nice but I mostly bought for aesthetics and for less bulk

Ah I know I’m just messing. He is fair even if I’m not fully on board with the whole supper chill old hippy man vibe.
He lives not too far from me. My buddy saw him in a grocery store once and talked to him. They ended up hanging out and Steve did a little video about my buddy's audio setup. I still tease him about it to this day 😂
