Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Haha what the hell am I just universally thought of as the most irresponsible person on the forum?

Oh god no! @NathanRicaud is 100% the most irresponsible but there are far more irresponsible people in between. You just seem like you have a good job no kids and like to buy a lot of records. Thats what I keep telling myself about myself too though so it could just be a delusion...

I was at around 100 records give or take until we purchased a home back in 2016. Now I am at 1,200 give or take. I need more storage space and I need to sell some stuff but I haven’t done either yet. Maybe this year... [checks the 15+ albums that have been purchased since the beginning of 2021]... or next.
I havent bought any since Christmas. I did a quick total the other day on what's still outstanding due to delays in delivery or overseas orders. It's 24 albums. If I hadnt stopped ordering I'd have had to stack them in the shape of a house so I could live in it.

The biggest issue is space. The upstairs is done. No more space to put records. The basement is newly reno'd but the main room already had in wall cabinets/bookshelves from the 60's and they're sweet but they are too shallow, the records stick off the shelves by several inches, and won't fit inside the cabinets due to the doors. And there's no other place to put them down there because the rest of the room is taken up by the bar and retro arcade. And the other big room is my wife's yoga studio/gym and she would fucking END ME if I attempted to put a single record in there. So yeah, it's either put lots of very expensive records on shelves where they can be walked into by people as they drunkenly stumble past, or cap it at about 550.

I've been looking forward to this album for a while. VMP currently has the best price + shipping available, and this is the best color variant yet (imo). The others are recycled color and recycled black, and shipping is like $18 from wherever in the EU to the US. I wouldn't be surprised if Rough Trade ends up with a variant, but I'm pretty happy with the matching orange.

Somehow... her new tracks haven't really clicked with me yet and her debut was one of my most listened albums in 2017. But I'll definitely be checking out this new album.

That’s quitters talk! The next project is clearly a garage conversion into a music room! Who needs a garage in 2021 anyway...

I’ve dreaded taking an inventory of my collection since it feels like I’ve purchased way too much. But all this talk has made me morbidly curious so I finally did.

I started collecting in March of 2019, and I currently have 239 records. That’s.... not too bad I don’t think?

No kids, no other major hobbies... yeah I’d say I’m doing alright. At least that’s what I’m going to tell my wife when she inevitably confronts me on the amount of space my collection is taking up and will continue to take up.

Look into S-Crates, they are oversized milk carton crates that can be stacked. It's what I am currently using in my "records wherever they fit" storage solution..

Omg, I have so many records, but I love it because I want my vinyl collection to be a big, welcoming, diverse library of happiness, fun, weirdness, coolness and just something for everyone!

If you are an audiophile geek like yourself Mather, I’ve got some high quality pressings for you; One-Steps. I want my vinyl library to have something everyone will enjoy spinning, including people who like Classical, Country and Metal music!

Yeah I've got the Mingus One Step. It's the main one I wanted out of the bunch they've done. It's very nice, I mean both discs are dished to high hell but... sounds nice.
