Soul Step Records are proud to announce our latest LP release and welcome a brand new artist to the ever growing diverse label. Please join Soul Step Records in welcoming SAD PENNY to the label!
We will be releasing both her EP’s packaged as an LP. You’ll get her debut EP “Sun Cured” on the A-side and the B-side packs in her “Nightside” EP. This LP comes to Soul Step Subscribers on Saturday, October 17th.
Sad Penny is Nashville’s best truthful and direct indie rock and roll songwriter. Sad Penny is great for fans of Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail, and Courtney Barnett. Sad Penny blends elements of guitar-driven indie rock with the raw emotion of bedroom pop creating a soundtrack for relationships both beautiful and disastrous. No matter if you carry a full heart or even a broken heart - Sad Penny has filled this record with a song for you. Drop the needle and get hit in your feelings!
The A-side of this LP features the 5-song EP, “Sun Cured.” This EP was the first release under the Sad Penny moniker after her time in the influential band The Saint Johns. Produced by Daniel Tashian who produced the Grammy award winning Album of The Year “Golden Hour” by Kacey Musgraves. It also has production credits from her partner in The Saint Johns, Louis Johnson.
The B-side of this LP features the 6 song EP, “Nightside.” This EP is filled with crunchy guitars and sweet Americana melodies. Produced by her husband and bandmate in Mad Wave, JT Daly. This album is full of some incredible anti-love songs and showcases Sad Penny’s ability to write strong indie rock music.
Soul Step Records will be releasing Sad Penny’s LP to Soul Step Subscribers on Saturday, October 17th. The general public sale will begin on Monday, October 19th. Both EP’s are currently available to stream on the digital service of your choice right now.

Both of these EP's rule. As a Nashvilian, I never knew she was the female in The Saint Johns.

It'll be an LP....and I think maybe it could hit on Halloween....if it gets done from the plant in time. But we'll get you one more before the end of the year.
