It has been an incredible year for jazz so far. Amaro Freitas, Shabaka Hutchings, Kamasi Washington, Isaiah Collier & The Chosen Few... All of them released fantastic albums and we are only mid-may..
Just saw this tour in Chicago Wednesday and got to say hello to Kamasi in front of his tour bus. Great show! I assume you know he’ll be in London this fall. View attachment 202856
I just ordered the Rough Trade exclusive. $35 and I can pick it up for free at the store. Guessing VMP's will be in the $45 range.Lookin like VMP color variant of Monsters of Folk 15th anniversary will be today
$40 shipped for members so not too different.I just ordered the Rough Trade exclusive. $35 and I can pick it up for free at the store. Guessing VMP's will be in the $45 range.
Paying full price for that Dolly sub was one of my worst financial decisions in a while, apparently. I do wear my socks and use my vinyl divider at least!Been seeing some of the mystery bundles coming in. Only seen one Lapsley so far! But some tribe called quest, Dolly, death cab exclusives, Ashby, and other old store exclusives.
"The band quickly vetoed Bon Jovi's initial suggestion..."
They had t-shirts and hoodies, poster, the album in LP format (not sure about CD), and some other accessory stuff I don’t remember.I'm seeing him in July for the first time! What kind of merch was there?

everyone who got the dolly sub seemed to really like it, but as usual, VMP seemed to overestimate the demand for it and then didn't know what to do with all the extra copies of albums so they sold them in the store. They never should have said you could only get them with a sub and then put them in the store for anybody to buy.Paying full price for that Dolly sub was one of my worst financial decisions in a while, apparently. This is dumb with this one though, because they made it super limited from the start there was a waitlist the first few months. Maybe just don’t press more than that initial run.everyone who got the dolly sub seemed to really like it, but as usual, VMP seemed to overestimate the demand for it and then didn't know what to do with all the extra copies of albums so they sold them in the store. No instead they ran out of merch for the last record and randomly shipped that record a month late for those individuals with no official communication unless they asked.Overestimating demand is a theme. I suppose once you’re left with a surplus of albums there’s little else you can do, as shit as it was for people who subscribed. They could have offered a free record or a code or some credit as a sorry…
