    The Blue Note Thread

For fans of coloured vinyl, Rough Trade's latest email has a link to pre-order what they are referring to as a 'Blue vinyl series' complete with 85th Anniversary Obi. Sidewinder is the only one listed mind, so who knows what will constitute a series. EDIT: Found one more Cannonball Adderley...

    2024 Reading Challenge

May 2024 Book 28: Paul Auster - Leviathan This month's instalment of my Auster readings was met with the sad news of his passing. Although I've struggled to enjoy some of his works on second readings, I can't help but admire his overall canon and this was in fact, a really enjoyable novel...

    N&G AOTM /// Vol. 60 - June 2024 /// U.N.K.L.E.'s "Psyence Fiction"

A personal favourite, great choice. I was lucky enough to pick up this OG US release when I was working in Switzerland 6 or 7 years ago. Always grateful for a reason to pull it out and spin.

On my list too. My dad has been banging on about how good it is for the past 6 months. Looking forward to getting around to it.

April 2024 Book 21: Eleanor Catton - The Luminaries This was a real pot-boiler of an epic tale set during the New Zealand gold rush. A cast of 12 characters relate their part in a tale of murder and mystery for the first half of the book which does lead to a bit of repetition but not...

    2024 Reading Challenge

This is the only one I've ever read and I love it, one of the best novellas I've ever read. He manages to squeeze so much empathy and emotion into effectively a parable and it'll take you no more than a couple of hours to get through,

    2024 Reading Challenge

March 2024 I realised half way through the month that I'd posted February's reads over in the other book thread so here's a link to that for anyone following here but not there. Book 16: Paul Auster - Moon Palace Third in my Auster chronological readthrough. Gotta say, I struggled with this...

The Reader’s Nook - The N&G Book Thread

February 2024 Despite the shorter month, I managed to get quite a few in due to a few sleepless nights and several of the books being quite concise. Book 8: Michael Chabon - Kavalier & Clay I enjoyed this one although probably not as much as I expected to given both the critical and general...

The Reader’s Nook - The N&G Book Thread

Looks beautiful, Grae. As much as I love my Kindle, there's nothing quite beats a bookcase full of books. I was looking at the Vitra Eames chairs recently and in a nice leather they set you back nearly 10k. I'll have to get the kids through school before I even start a conversation with Mrs...

If you ever find yourself in Yorkshire, UK - check out the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It has hundreds of great sculptures from global artists but one of them is an amazing circle of zodiac heads by Ai Weiwei in bronze, all mounted on tall posts. They’re beautiful to take in in person...

The send to kindle option is pretty good too and they seem to have started favouring epub over mobi or whatever it was.
